Zones of Regulation and The Resilience Project (TRP)

The Zones of Regulation

The Zones of Regulation is a Social and Emotional Learning framework used at our school to help students understand and manage their emotions and levels of alertness. It teaches children that all feelings are okay, while supporting them to develop strategies that help them stay calm, focused, and ready to learn.

Students learn about four coloured zones that describe how their body and brain are feeling and the intensity of these feelings. Zones of Regulation also arms our learners with a range of strategies to self-regulate depending on their emotions and what zone they are in.

The Resilience Project, founded by Hugh Van Cuylenburg, is an acclaimed program that focuses on building resilience, positive mental health, and happiness among students, teachers, and parents.

The Resilience Project typically incorporates three key pillars: gratitude, empathy, and mindfulness. These pillars help individuals develop a positive mindset, foster strong relationships, and manage stress effectively. The program often involves interactive workshops, presentations, and activities that engage participants in understanding and practicing these principles.

The Resilience Project provides a valuable framework for fostering positive mental health and well-being in our school community. By implementing its principles and practices, at our school is helping students, teachers, and parents build resilience and lead happier, more fulfilling lives.
