Technology

At Yinnar Primary School, Technology is a fundamental component of teaching and learning. Teachers embrace and weave the technology curriculum into everyday learning and use it to support learning of other curriculum areas. Our students have weekly technology specialist classes that provide them with the opportunities to develop their skills in both designing technologies and using digital technologies and applications.

Our students have access to devices such as iPads, netbook computers and other technological devices including robots and coding programs. These devices are used to enhance and support student learning experiences.

Our teachers are equipped with technology, including laptops and interactive whiteboards, in conjunction with professional learning to provide them with relevant and updated skills. This enables them to deliver innovative lessons and develop our students into proficient users of technology in an ever-changing digital world.

Teachers and students have access to a multitude of different educational programs to support student growth. Some of these programs include Nessy, Epic Reading, Essential Assessment, IXL, Seesaw and Microsoft Teams classes. Yinnar Primary School also make use of Compass and emails for parent communications and Microsoft Teams to communicate as a staff schoolwide.

Yinnar Primary School is an eSmart school and we understand that importance of educating our students to be respectful and safe users of technology. We include programs that allow students to explore and discuss what behaviours are appropriate, how to keep their information private whilst operating online and what to do if they are feeling unsafe or uncomfortable with any online situation.

Technology is an integral part of our everyday world, and we strive to provide students with skills to adapt and cope with the consistently changing technological world they will face in their future.
