School Council

My name is Laura and I am the current School Council President.

Thank you to our previous Presidents and Council members who all offered so much to our school. I hope I am able to do the same and fulfil the role to its fullest.

This is my first year on Yinnar Primary School’s Council and am honoured to be selected as President. We are all very fortunate to be a part of such a lovely school. I am hoping in this role I am able to continue to engage and support our school community alongside a wonderful School Council.

You may wonder what is involved in School Council and often even wondered what it would be like if I did join. Well, School Council are a combination School staff members and parents from Yinnar Primary School that form YPS School Council. The group meets once per month and the majority and more recently these meeting have been done online.

A well-informed and effective School Council strengthens community confidence in the school and helps to build and secure the school’s reputation which is the aim of our School Council.

School Councils play a vital role in Victorian Government Schools and are established and operate under the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic), the Education and Training Reform Regulations 2017 (Vic) and a constituting Order.

Next time you see a request looking for new members to join our School Council don’t hesitate to have a chat to me about what’s involved and don’t be afraid to get involved.

It’s exciting times ahead for Yinnar Primary School as we look forward to major refurbishments over the next 12 months.

Thank You,

Laura
