Dear Parents and Carers,
Over the past few weeks, as we’ve welcomed our 2025 Prep students to the school, I’ve found myself reflecting on how quickly this year has flown by. It’s hard to believe we are already in the second last week of Term 4. Watching this year’s Preps transition confidently into the Grade 1 classrooms has highlighted just how much they—and all our students—have grown and learned throughout the year.
Beyond growing taller, our students have developed as learners, demonstrating increased resilience, reflection, and resourcefulness. It has been wonderful to witness their progress and celebrate their achievements.
Last week, we completed the process of selecting our 2025 student leaders. These roles will be officially announced on Wednesday, 18th December, at a full school assembly at 9am. The badges for our new leaders will be ordered during the holidays and presented early in Term 1 at our House Fun Night.
I want to acknowledge and commend all the students who showed the courage and growth mindset to step outside their comfort zone and apply for leadership positions. This willingness to take on challenges aligns perfectly with the values we uphold at Yinnar. For many, this experience will bring positive outcomes, and for those who were unsuccessful this time, it offers an opportunity for growth, reflection, and learning. We had overwhelming response from our students, with 25 applying for School Captain positions and over 70 students applying to join either the GRACE Team or the Junior School Council.
As this is our final newsletter for 2024, I would like to take a moment to say farewell to our Grade 6 students. They have been a wonderful group who have grown into capable, confident, and compassionate learners. We will miss them greatly, but they are well-prepared for the exciting challenges of secondary school. We wish them all the very best as they embark on the next chapter of their educational journey.
We will officially farewell them at our Graduation Ceremony next Wednesday evening.
Goodbye and good luck to Morgen, Hayley, Taylah, Eleanor, Sophia, Alisha, Hunter, Kane, Caity, Jackson, Quade, Lilly, Tyler, Luca, Zoe, Xavier, Bonnie, Jude, Vienna, Charlie, Alexandra, Paddy, Elizabeth, Hudson, Ash, Lillia, Annaliese, Lillyanna, Nicholas, Keiran, April, Henry, Jarryd, Alice, Max and Dusty.
Many of these students have been exceptional leaders within our school community, and I extend my heartfelt thanks to each of them. We wish you all the very best as you embark on the exciting journey of secondary school.
I would also like to acknowledge the wonderful families who will be concluding their time at Yinnar Primary School in 2024. Each family’s contributions, though unique, have been deeply valued, and we sincerely thank you for being an integral part of our school community.
