General Information

Philosophy

At Yinnar Primary, we challenge and assist our students to achieve excellence and to become self motivated learners. We challenge and assist them to become caring and responsible members of society. Our goals are clearly stated in our School Charter.

Size

We have 168 students currently enrolled  in Prep Burslem, Grade 1/2 Carew, Grade 1/2 Breide, Grade 3/4 Franklin, Grade 3/4 Dekkers, 5/6 Gill and 5/6 Twomey. We are able to offer Library, Phys Ed. and Information Technology. We have a specialist Reading Recovery teacher to support our concentration on Early Years Literacy.

Buildings

The recently renovated buildings are set in well maintained lawns and garden as the school grounds have numerous shady trees.


School Community

Yinnar Primary School values the impute of parents and friends and encourages them to take part in:

School Council

Meets monthly to advise on the direction of the school.

School Council Sub-Committees

Have the task of advising on Finance, Buildings and Grounds and Curriculum issues.

Functions and Fundraising

Help to foster and develop a sense of community by getting together for special activities and working bees.

Involvement In Classrooms

Parents provide an extra of hands for special days, assist with long term programs in classes, share particular skills, on excursions, camps and sports days and in many other ways.

 


Enrichment Programs

At Yinnar Primary School, we have programs within the school which cater for particular children's interests:

We have an Annual School Concert or Production. (Which is bigger than Ben Hur.)

Overnight sleepovers and camps are a part of our whole school yearly program.

Local sporting clubs visit the school on a regular basis to assist with teaching specialized sporting skills.


Children

At Yinnar Primary School, the children are given opportunities to develop responsibilities, a civic sense and enjoying learning. We have a Junior School Council, cross age tutoring, Social Service sessions and monitors for many jobs.
